Telco OTT Service

Diligence, Solutioning, Execution Management

Overview

National policy and legislation has resulted in an extremely competitive broadband industry in New Zealand with the country being served by roughly 80 ISP’s. Sensing an opportunity to enter the market for value-added broadband services and create bundling options for its high speed and wireless data products, the country’s leading ISP decided to launch a premium OTT service. While Netflix had yet to (legally) enter the New Zealand market, it was widely understood that their entry was imminent.

What We Did

Konstrukt served as the prime contractor for the ground-up design and launch of the operator’s OTT service and was responsible for the overall technical track of their go-to-market effort. In the design phase, the company managed the RFP process to select the service’s key vendors. In the execution phase, the Konstrukt team pivoted and was responsible for the technical program: managing the eleven vendors that participated in the launch, designing all vendor integrations and defining the day-to-day operational processes of the service.

Outcome

Prior to launching its OTT service, the operator had no experience with video. Its new service went from concept to launch in seven months and quickly exceeded subscriber targets. Initially launched on three devices and all major browsers, eight additional device families were added in the first nine months of service.
