Supply Chain CMS

Product Design, Engineering

Overview

With catalogs deep into the tens of thousands and monthly churn well into double digits, the aggregation and management of programming data for a premium video service can be a complex and costly proposition. A telco located in APAC with no prior experience with video was launching a new OTT service. Realizing their OTT platform focused on the presentation and monetization of their catalog rather than the aggregation and manufacturing of assets, the telco was faced with two options: hire a team to “babysit” the flow of content coming from their suppliers or engineer a scalable process using the right technology and thinking.

What We Did

Konstrukt conceptualized, designed and developed a supply-chain oriented content management system for the operator. The CMS leveraged the native capabilities of Amazon Web Services to create a platform that integrated multiple video and metadata service providers. The application served as the “source of truth” enabling content operations to manage and track the lifecycle of every title in the operator’s catalog, from licensing to ingest.

Outcome

The application went from an idea in a PowerPoint slide to v1.0 in less than ten weeks allowing the operator to start onboarding their catalog well ahead of the service’s launch window. Within six weeks, over twelve thousand titles had been processed into eleven profiles, packaged into two video formats, mapped into the TMS ID space and assigned a regional rating value. A significant accomplishment for a two-person content operations team.
